Colca “Conventional Classic”

The Colca Valley is one of the largest, visited and important tourist destinations in Peru. It is located within the region of Arequipa in the province of Caylloma. Colca comes from the words Collaguas and Cabanas, two ethnic groups that lived along the Colca River. This canyon has a depth of 4160 meters, it is considered the deepest in the world.
The canyon landscape encompasses a green valley and traditional remote villages with terraced agriculture that preceded the Incas. The Colca river is popular for the descent in rafts and extends along 450 km on the eastern slope of the Andes mountain range, along its route it changes its name to Majes river and then it becomes the Camaná river. The Colca Valley corresponds to the first portion of the basin of this river and that is where the Colca Canyon is located.
The mountainous landscapes are presented from 3,000 meters to 5,000 meters with steep slopes, in them the erosion of the water has caused the formation of deep trenches, the lands here are suitable for grazing, whether based on the use of natural pastures Temporary, permanent and semi-permanent, are purely cattle and alpaquero districts Tisco, Callalli and Sibayo. It is common to observe landscapes with vertical cliffs of hundreds of meters of unevenness with a perfect columnar disjunction.
Another major feature of the valley Colca is the presence of hot water, from Caylloma to Canco, with a progressive decrease of the temperature of the water, and a change in chemical composition, from sulfurous to carbonated, the chemical composition of the Waters are mostly of Ca, Zn, Fe, C, salts and others, with a maximum temperature of 85 C ° at the exit of the spring.
