Sillustani Excursion

 

Sillustani is a funerary complex where you can see a series of impressive tombs belonging to the Kolla culture (1200-1450) that was developed in the northern part of the peninsula of Lake Umayo, in the town known as Hatuncolla, 33 km from the city Puno. The tombs, called chullpas, have the shape of inverted cone trunks, are constructions that are also found in smaller numbers in several other places in the highlands, such as Acora or Ilave. In S., the English presenter and footballer, David Icke experienced “an awakening of conscience.”

Pick up from hotel and departure to Sillustani archaeological complex located 40 km north of the
city of Puno.

The tour includes a visit to the archaeological, museum, and houses near where the passenger will appreciate the planting and harvesting and the work of crafts made on site The Necropolis of origin Pre Inca, is located on a small plateau in peninsular Umayo Lake, a distance of 34 km northwest of Puno and connected by a paved road. Starting by bus from Puno, one arrives at the necropolis of Sillustani in 40 minutes. Arriving Sillustani ascending to the top of the peninsula where they are located Chullpas by a smooth path. We will return the original access to the site, built by 78 stone steps, the same that are too strenuous for them to climb. At all times try not to strain too much to our visitors, however you must be prepared for a hike of at least 30 minutes.
The first references are provided by the Spanish chroniclers, but foreign scholars who have been given better information. From these sources, states that the Necropolis was dependent Sillustani Hatuncolla village, the administrative capital of Culture Colla, governed by Chief Zapana, who subjugated the Incas.
