SOUTH VALLEY

 

To The south of the city of Cusco, on the way to the high plateau, there is this valley of impressive landscapes and memorable archaeological centers. Tour of the Vilcanota River, the South Valley of Cusco awaits you with picturesque villages and a nature of warm beauty. The South Valley of Cusco is a tourist attraction still little explored by tourists compared to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu. There it is still possible to appreciate Tipón and Piquillacta without many tourists around. It is an important place for the development of the Inca empire. It is the perfect tour for people looking to experience archeological sites and magnificent landscapes. This territory was one of the first inhabited places in the entire valley of Cusco. The first inhabitants of the culture known as ‘Marcavalle’ populated this place 1000 years before Christ.

Pick up from your accommodation depending on the proximity to the historic center of the city.

The first stop 
Then we will go by bus to the south of Cusco, during this journey we will be able to observe beautiful landscapes of the Andean Serrania. The first stop
will be at the archaeological center of Tipón, an Inka ceremonial center where the flow of water from the high peaks of the Pachatusan hill to the
lowlands of the valley was controlled through a stone channel.

The second stop 
Later we will visit the Piquillacta Archaeological complex that literally means City, It is an old walled citadel of the Wari Empire, which was one of the most important regional centers of the Wari Culture in its expansion into the city of Cusco.

The third stop
Finally we will conclude the journey by visiting the beautiful Church of Andahuaylillas, a small jewel of the Colonial period, also known as "The Sistine of America", inside which is an impressive collection of Canvases with frames bathed in gold leaf and wall
paintings, baroque altarpieces , and more.
