Overview

THE FLOATING ISLANDS OF  “UROS”

 

They are located east of the city, 7 km away, being one of the traditional views. These Islands are artificial floors made of superimposed and skillfully interwoven totora, there are all sizes and in the Natural Reserve of Titicaca, Bay of Puno in an approximate number of 50.
During the trip, the guide provides extensive information about Lake Titicaca, the legends of the Uros, their customs and customs and folklore. THE ISLAND OF TAQUILE

AMANTANÍ ISLAND

 

The population is approximately 400 families, spread across the 10 communities of Santa Rosa, Lampayuni, Sancayuni, Alto Sancayuni, Occosuyo, Occo Pampa, Incatiana, Colquecachi and Villa Orinojón plus the town. Its main means of subsistence is agricultural activity; produce potatoes, geese, barley and beans; in cattle activity, bovines and cattle stand out. Its textile activity is similar to that of Taquile, both in variety and design. Due to the existence of granite rock on the Llacastiti hill, an activity of cutting and carving tools for everyday use and for decorative elements in construction has been developed.

 

LOCATION: Its located west of Lake Titicaca, and northeast of Puno.

Pick up and transfer from your hotel to the port of the city of Puno.

Departure by boat heading to the floating islands of the Uros (approximately 30 minutes, the visit to the Uros Islands lasts approximately 45 minutes.)

The Floating Islands of the Uros built by a dense vegetation of totora and llachu, also called Khili; for its conservation the tissue of the cattail is made every three months, being this the way to avoid the disintegration of the floor. The population is engaged in hunting and fishing in the past, due to the influx of tourists they have increased work such as; dissect
animals (birds and fish), build rafts of totora, elaboration of fabrics and tapestries (crafts).

Departure to Amantaní Island the trip takes about 2 h 30 min.
This visit will allow us to know the customs and live with the residents, it will be an experience in which you will not be an observer but can integrate with the locals and have an experiential experience through a walk towards the two ceremonial centers; Pachamama and Pachatata will observe beautiful landscapes, high Andean customs, and way of life PACHATATA is the sacred place of the mountain in which the ritual offerings are deposited once a year. Towards the front of the same place is the other ceremonial center PACHAMAMA, which is the place where ritual ceremonies are performed to cosmic deities and the cult of the tutelary gods to live in harmony with nature, source of happiness and prosperity of the world.

Departure to the island of Taquile, the trip takes about 1:15 minutes.
The Taquile Island that is located, on the top of the island, at 4,050 m.a.s.l. and at 240 meters. Above the lake level. The most remarkable of the island are its Quechua-speaking inhabitants, manifested in their original dresses and sophisticated fabrics, which retain many reminiscences of pre-Columbian times both in their quality design and symbology.
Taquile, is an island of great landscape and cultural interest, whose inhabitants are mainly engaged in agriculture, crafts and fishing. The locals continue to live according to their ancient traditions and laws. Small trekking to know the island, free time to walk.
